Hi Gang,

I know it has been a long time, so put the kettle on and hit the link BBR And let’s have a bit of a catch up.

First, I want to that everyone for all the support that you have given to both myself, and the Radio Station.  Not only tuning in, in your droves, but by supporting the events which we put on around the country, and in other countries.  I would like to also thank you on behalf of the team.  Who have seen an increase in subscribers/listeners to podcasts, So thank you for that.. We would also like to say a special thank you to everyone who has supported ‘Soulful Sundaes’.  You have come down to Herne Bay in your 100’s and we thank you for all the positive feedback, and look forward to seeing you down at the Bandstand, as the Summer continues.

I have been known to use these pages to have the odd rant, bit of politic’s, I steer well clear of religion.  But I have seen some weird thing going on with other stations.  I always say we are in a business, which is full of competition, and that means that you have to either be very niche, or very broad in terms of what you do.  At the same time it’s a business, and the minute you go on air, you have a responsibility to your listeners!  Take what you do seriously, and have a plan to be broadcasting in 10 years time.  I took a financial punt, but at the same time their was, and is a long-term plan.  Kind of build it, they will come!!  And I am grateful that you all share the enjoyment,ent we hope to bring with BBR.

With that in mind, it has alway been our strategy to expand our operation in Tenerife (Canary Islands), and we shall start broadcasting on FM in Tenerife in 2019.  This will run alongside our current online programming, and will offer the not only our online users, but our FM & Online Listeners the opportunity to experience a new schedule of dual programming, with live shows from both the UK & Tenerife.  This has been something we have been working on for some time, and look forward to our launch in January 2019.

It’s been a hectic few weeks with all the project’s me and the team are trying to juggle.  The Wife has been back and forth to hospital with her mother, so it has been all hands to the pump.  Hence the delay in the update!  Lot’s of exciting stuff in the pipeline, so follow this blog, or subscribe to BBR..

Hi Gang,

I know it’s been a while… So lot’s to catch up on! So kettle on and click the link for some tunes BBR

World Cup, Brexit, Soulful Sundaes, to name but a few are the topic, we are going to cover.  First up Brexit.. I saw my old mate Danny Dyer on Television, giving his opinion on Brexit, which went viral, and basically, I can’t help but agree with him at every turn.  No matter what side of the argument you are on? Leave or Remain! Your not going to get what you want, and in the mist of it all is a great big mess? And Danny is right? Where is David Cameron! In France, with his trotters up! Darn right! but he is right… What a twat!  David Cameron had the opportunity, as Prime Minister to go to Europe, and said.. We want, and if you don’t give us.. We will leave! And on the result of the Referendum, I have a feeling, he would have got us a great deal, and we would be having our cake and eat it! Instead, and I am going to say it, because Danny couldn’t on National Telly! We are Fucked!! Let’s not make any bones about it, we are in deep shit!

In the last 2 years since the referendum, We as a country have spent Billions, working out how we are going to get out? Without making the country bankrupt? Good luck with that.. Teresa!  Now we all remember that famous £350 Million!  Let’s for a minute, say it exists? The cheapest solution to the Irish Boarder Situation? Would Cost £25 Billion, Yep £25 Billion.. for a £350 million a year saving! You do the math!  Some of the issue’s prior to the referendum was immigration.. That has dropped, mainly from Non-Europeans! and Europeans, has not only dropped, but people leaving the country has increased! mainly Europeans.  One of the concerns of Brexit, is that immigrants, have been the backbone of the country for so many years, that the lack off, or the loss of, does not in-fact create more jobs for British people, because they were the jobs, that Brit’s didn’t want to do! Anyone fancy working 10 hours on a chicken farm, or picking fields in Kent, for 10 hours, on your hands and knees.. Hell No!

Everyone keeps telling me, about getting our boarders back, and control of trade! Sounds good.. But let’s take a look at that.. President Trump, is in the middle of a trade war, and We think that he will do us a favour, by giving us Tariff free access to his US Market? Is that ‘Putting America first‘? I think not, so I can’t see any sweet deals for us? And if there is… What does America have, that we can’t get cheaper, and quicker from Europe? Even with a new Tariff agreement.. After all we are going to get a good deal?

Our Boarders.. Like America, we can dictate, who we let into the country… Even with freedom of movement rules! I will explain…  AT EVERY UK BOARDER THERE IS A SIGN! “We have the right to refuse entry into the UK… TO ANYONE”!  We have control of our Boarders! WE CHOOSE NOT TO!! FACT!!

The final point from the referendum, was our Parliament being in control, and not a bunch of bureaucrats in Brussels.. Fair and interesting point!  Have you ever watched our parliament?  Nuff Said! And let look at some of those rules.. We know the bent Bananas was a joke! So how bad are these rules? And some of the counties having to suffer these rules! I can only talk from personal experience, but I am sure you will see my point, if you have travelled round Europe. Holland, Rotterdam, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, to name a few, each have their problems, but as far as I can see the laws, and rules that those Bureaucrats have put in place, seem to have done each of those countries as service, and each of them, have managed to negotiate favourable terms, while inside the EU!

I am going to leave this topic, for now, and I am sure over coming weeks we will no doubt have to revisit it, but I am praying that Prime Minister Dyer, get’s in and sorts this mess out.. and in his words.. ‘Soon As‘.

Onwards!

World Cup fever is upon us.. And I for one am loving every minute, it have been the only thing that has keep my eye off the Premier League transfer market.. (Come on West Ham, few more players in).  But this World Cup, in Russia has been the first time I have been able to truly believe, we could actually win the thing! Fingers crossed, and not wanting to ‘jinx’ things I will leave the subject there for now… Save to say.. Come on England!!

Summer is here!

Soulful Sundaes Printable

Last weekend we launched ‘Soulful Sundaes’, Boogie Bunker Radio’s Summer Event.  Held in the Glorious Seaside town of Herne Bay, Kent.  We Take over the Central Bandstand, with our partners Makcaris Ice Cream Parlour!  We bring an afternoon of across the board Soul & Dance music, with a hint of Reggae!  We had great weather, and a great crowd throughout the day.  We shall be back every Sunday, as Well as Saturday 11th August for the Famous Herne Bay Carnival, when we will have some extra special guest joining us.

So why not come and join us for a day at the seaside, and some great music. Free entry throughout the Summer!

Finally

This week on the family front, hasn’t been great, NO! The wife is very much alive... But her Mother has been unwell, and it has put a strain on the family, as a whole.  My wife is a little bundle of energy, as many of you know? But with hospital visits, and the worry, it does have its effect all round.  I unlike most am very pragmatic, and to some very strong and capable.  Which to a degree I am, I am a good businessman, and run a successful business, which I built from scratch.  But there are days, that my wife puts me to shame!  She has been exhausted, but each day, she gets up, and brushes her teeth, and gets ready for another day, of more unknown.  Yes, there have been tears, and couple of nights of waking up, in her clothes.. Where I have pulled the covers, over her corpse!  I have had to cope with a couple of ‘Bitch‘ moments, but I can take all that, because I look at my wife, with great pride.  My admiration for how she has coped is immense, and I hate to say it… I am a lucky guy, to have such a loving & caring person by my side.. And if anyone tells her, they are a dead person!

Hi Gang,

I am back, sun-tanned… What’s so funny… You know the drill.. Kettle on.. hit the link BBR

First I want to thank everyone involved in our recent trip to Tenerife.  My DJ’s, Rob Randell, Jackie Allsorts, Malc, Ed Mahon, David Manso, Sergio, LUUH, Aitor Robles, Alby, and everyone involved.  To all the superb venues, thank you for all your assistance and we look forward to seeing you again, very soon.  Some of the photo’s and videos are available via the radio station website.

Never one to shy away from controversy.. I return to find out that the Brexit situation, is no better, and still costing us a fortune.  Which make me wonder! Tenerife is not part of the EU, but a member of the EEA.  It’s cheap, it’s well run! bins are collected daily? unemployment is average! By taking this possibility off the negotiating table, not shooting ourselves in the foot? Just going to leave that out there!

Moving on!

Going to try to get it all in… We went to Tenerife to do some promotion, for ‘Fun in the Sun 2019’ Our annual trip to Tenerife.. We needed to test Venues, and check on new venues, all the tech stuff.. We did however stumble over an amazing venue which will add something to next years ‘FITS 2019’.  And we shall add 2 night’s under the star’s as part of next years event.

We have also added an amazing new Sponsor ‘Tenerife Buzz’ This brand new app is not only a tour guide for the island, it will offer discounts, and a host of business listings, and information, invaluable to our ‘FITS’ travellers.. This year it will make up the ‘FITS 2019 Wristband’ listing venues, times, travel info, and where wristband holders can claim their discounts.  The app will be online in mid-September! While we are on the subject of Tenerife… I want to thank everyone at Parque Santiago 6, and the Staff at Loft, Coffee & Food.. For allowing us at BBR to take over the whole shopping centre!! Something we could never dream of doing in the UK, and anyone who saw the videos, will agree it was some spectacle.. We are going to do it again, in January! be a part of it..

Moving on.. Again!

My Plans to set up BBR Tenerife, moved another step closer! I will not say too much for now! However, FITS 2019 should be broadcast across the south of the island on FM!! As well as worldwide online!

I know some may be sitting and reading this, thinking! what a cocky git! I feel you… But I said this was my plan 2 years ago, and I get up at 6am each day, and start work, and am still working when my wife puts my dinner on the table in the evening.  Apart from my wife, no one has any idea, the hours I have had to put in to get the Station, and the brand that we are building around it together.  There is more for us to do, and I still need to put things in place, so that we are not just a flash in the pan radio station.  I have a great team of DJ’s both here in the UK, and in Tenerife.  I can’t put into words what it feels like to see them all working together, sharing ideas, teaching each other tricks, and the love they all have for the music, I know it’s all a little cliché, but truth be told, I keep saying I started this station, as someone pissed me off, but now we are here, let’s make it the best..

I am never going to change in that thinking.  Cocky, far from it.. I can’t afford to be! As those same DJ’s I mentioned who I am so proud of, look to me to keep this thing rolling, which of course I intend to.  People have not been too sure about us, and our numbers show that a hell of a lot of people listen, so we can’t be doing so bad.  We have a plan! And we are going to stick with it.  If you clicked the link above… Not too bad is it?

Finally… I want people to know, all these trip’s, are not for the faint of heart.. I am not going to lie, 3 day’s in and I was knackered! But I want to make a special mention to my wife..

Corinne Williams is one great big ball of energy, forever the hostess, and sometimes a bit of a bitch! But she has earned the privilege..  But I am truly nothing without her.. My life is hectic, and she manages to help keep it all on track.  She peck’s my head, on the odd occasion, but I love her for caring, although I can’t say that! She was and this trip, she was my rock, yet again, and made sure the villa was the place to be, for the 10 days.. Love you Bub, x

It’s Been a while! Let’s catch up?

Hi Gang,

First, I want to take about my wife.  Anyone who knows my wife, will know that she is a little bundle of energy! In her head she’s 15, and still thinks that she is capable of doing the same things now, as she did then.  This weekend, we had the Spring BBQ, my wife always hostess with the mostest.. Worked like a trooper! granted she was no good, to man, nor beast for a few days afterwards, but I want to say how much, I love and enjoy having her by my side. I just wanted to let her know how important she is too me, and my day-to-day life, and I would be lost without her.

Onward!

Well, I am a few days away from arriving in Tenerife for some LIVE broadcasts with a few of the UK & Tenerife BBR Radio DJ’s.  Which is always fun, and we get a chance to have some down time together which can always be messy, one of our presenters is part of a Stag crew who will join us for the finale! And there’s more!

Sometime’s as a parent your torn between hugs, or strangulation. As father of 5, I find it always a surprise to find that my children have a belief that I as an adult, have not lived a life! And that I haven’t either pulled the same if not similar strokes myself, or know someone who has? Further than that.. Any advice we give them, is all just our way of in some way spoiling their fun, or bursting that ever inflated bubble.  Of all my children I have a deep-seated love for, some days they piss me off, some days I burst with pride for their achievements.  I have 4 girls, and each is a survivor in their own way, one is a mother, and is getting used to being a parent, and the new perspective on life that she has to adapt too making rules for her own.. She has my support and I will do all I can help.  I have a daughter, that is so much like me that it would shock her, if she was to admit the truth. at times all of my children have clashed with me, or their mothers, and my philosophy, has a will always be… We are parent and child, no matter how old you are, we are note mates.. We can be close, but we are not mates!  If we become mates, then you will be able to call me a C**t, like you do your mates, I will become less important over the years, like your mates! I am forever, and I am the person that you should turn to when in need.

Note I haven’t mentioned my son, this isn’t for any specific reason.  I am not going to lie, he recently let me down, which in turn let himself down, another story, and not for this blog.  But my point is this, our children have no idea how much we worry about them.. No we don’t always show our concern, and that is another parenting trait! we much be brave for them.  But I have sat a watched my wife having a restless night, because one of the kids has a cold, and that will never stop.  And who as a parent would want to have that trait programmed out of them? Not me!

I liken my job as a parent to that of a priest!! No I can’t wed you, but I give out more ‘forgiveness’ than the pope! As a parent, we are either blessing, or taking confession!  Point being this, our kids will make mistakes, and it is my hope that they learn from them, and in turn become better people.  It’s my hope, but DNA isn’t something which should define us as parents.. It’s what should define our children? As it’s our DNA that they are made from!

Just Saying… Moving On!

I would like to thank everyone who came down for the BBQ, we had great weather, and the Punch went down a treat, and half a pig was well and truly consumed, and the dog made whoopee to the bones. Now, we have had requests to do it again, as a great summer is promised… But at BBR we have something planned to the 12 weeks of Summer, check the website for info.

I have said some time ago that for me, the Radio Station was a progression, of my love for music, and although owning a station was never part of the plan.  I have picked up the gauntlet, and run with it, and I owe to those that work for me, to make the station as best as it can be. Without financial backing no Radio station can survive in this world of podcasts, and Spotify.  I have a plan, and to some it’s a dream, but BBR was a dream to some, and it’s success is a formula, which has been tested before! But that’s my secret.

In the coming month or to we will be making some brand changes, and the station will change in the way we do things, and these are busy, but exciting times for me, and my family. I will do my best to cover some of the goings on in my blog, but all will possible be revealed soon.

Another 4 day weekend is upon us, and it’s my hope to spend as much of it relaxing, as I am Knackered! But looking forward to some Sun & Cocktails in Tenerife next week.

Holiday Weekend Ahoy!!

Hi Gang,

As you can see from the title, we are gearing up for a holiday weekend.  The blog recently has focused on some of the issues, which effect our day to day live’s in the UK.  I wanted to talk about my day to day life, and running a Radio Station, and DJ, as well as an insight into my family life!  However, I have to save something for the book! So you will have to make do with, all the boring stuff!!

It’s Festival Season in the UK, and most of those which are held outside! You buy a ticket in the hope of good weather.  Now that may seem a risky prospect in the UK, with our inclement weather conditions, but those are the risks.  Now this can become a double edged sword, as you try and play safe, and opt for events which have both inside and outside facilities?  I this year am taking a risk by announcing the day of our annual BBQ!

I figured if we used the Royal wedding day! They would of at least check the long range forecast, from sources better than the BBC? We are talking Royalty! And they have an open Carriage bit, so they must know something we don’t!! Well fingers crossed, to anyone who is planning to take in a festival this year.  I will be attending one or two, although not trying to sound like a snob, I only try and attend those that offer VIP facilities! Brother has to have some standards.

I am just over 3 weeks away from returning to Tenerife (Spain), for a few show’s with the team from BBR, from the UK & Tenerife.  I have been going to Tenerife for around 30 years on and off, and my wife and I have made some great friends on the island over the years.  I have made it no secret of my intention to settle on the island, and see out my days, drinking cocktails with the wife.  Who doesn’t? But you have to look at things, that you never previously considered. Be assured our decision making isn’t on a whim!  We have no children, that live at home! They have lives, and make their own choices, we are just here to support, and offer an alternative perspective, to our children’s nonsense?

The issue for us… Is time! We both work, and have busy lives!  West Ham at a weekends, and family & friends in-between.  And then their is our dog!  Granted she is pushing on, but it’s like having a child, she needs to be fed and watered! and even she has here ways, and routines!  Granted we look at a lot of property online, but that doesn’t really cut it.  And after a few trip’s which saw very little new come to the market, we went to plan B!!

Why not find a bit of land, and build what we want! Which solves all our problems, but going to find a ideal piece of land, has proved equally as difficult as our property search, so Plan C, has come into effect! I will let you know what that is in the coming weeks… When the wife, tells me!

It is expected that we shall have great weather for the holiday weekend? I have already given you my thoughts on the weather in the UK.  Now anyone who doesn’t hold with the theory of global warming, come and live here! Beast from the East will soon have you changing your mind?  We name weather fronts, in the UK!

I am hoping that I will be able to wear a pair of shorts, before I return to Tenerife?  I am savourily lacking in vitamin D, or B, or Both!
